The many accomplishments and honors bestowed upon the South
Garland A Cappella Choir have only been made possible through
the dedication and hardwork of its students, parents, and
directors. As members of one of the premier choirs in the
State of Texas, our students are blessed to have unique
opportunities and experiences which enrich their lives and
teach them more about their art.
Convention Performances
Each year, schools from across the US submit
audition tapes to sing at special conventions at either the state,
region, or national level. Being chosen to sing at one of
these conventions is one of the highest honors a choir can
receive. South Garland's A Cappella Choir has been chosen to sing at nine such conventions in the past twenty-one years.

All-State Performers
Throughout the fall semester, students compete in a series
of rigorous and highly competitive auditions to be selected
to both the All-Region and All-State choirs. The student's chosen for these choirs represent the best singers in the State of Texas. South Garland has throughout it's history consistently had representatives in this choir. Last year, we sent two students to the All-State Choir.

UIL Contest
Each spring, choirs in the state of Texas participate in
UIL Concert and Sightreading contests. These events grade
the choirs on their ability to perform to predefined standards
not only in a concert setting but also with music that they
have never seen. The choirs are graded on a 1 to
5 scale with 1 being the best rating possible. Receiving
both a 1 rating in concert and sightreading is referred to as a "Sweepstakes" recognition for excellence. Since 1983, our choirs have consistently received Sweepstakes ratings and we plan to continue the “Tradition of Excellence” in the years to come.
